Live demonstrations
Award-winning decorators worked on the Artists and Education stages from doors open to the final demo each day, talking through every decision as they went.
For four days in July 2026 we took over a corner of the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair with a whole pavilion of live cake decorating and sugar art. Five of Australia's finest decorators taught on the stage and at the bench, there was a hands-on session running most of the day, and a different Sip & Decorate workshop each afternoon.
Presented by the Australian Cake Decorating Network.
It's free, and you'll be among the first to hear when something new opens, wherever in the country it's happening.
Cake! Alley is the cake decorating and sugar art pavilion that the Australian Cake Decorating Network brings to craft fairs around the country. It puts live demonstrations, hands-on sessions and the brands you actually buy from in one place, so you can watch a technique, try it yourself, and pick up what you need on the way out. In Sydney it ran on three things.

Ten to fifteen minute cookie and cupcake sessions that suited every age and every level of experience. No booking, no pressure, and something to carry home at the end of it.
A curated retail run of the country's most trusted cake decorating names: tools, colours and non-perishables, with the people who make them standing behind the counter.
The educators who brought Cake! Alley to life in Sydney, on the stage and in the Sip & Decorate workshops. Every one of them is worth following, and they all teach elsewhere too.
A glass of champagne, a master teacher, and a sweet creation to take home. A different workshop ran each day, Wednesday to Saturday. Here is what each one covered, for the record and for anyone deciding whether to catch the next one.
The brands and retailers who stood up Cake! Alley in Sydney with us. Cake! Alley does not happen without them, so if you are shopping for tools, colours or supplies, start here.
Four days, five teachers, four Sip & Decorate workshops, and a pavilion full of the brands people actually buy from. The stages ran demonstrations each day, the make and take benches ran alongside them, and Copha's Coral Crackle proved almost impossible to walk past without stopping for a photograph.
Thank you to everyone who came and said hello, to the five teachers who taught across the four days, and to the brands and retailers who backed the whole thing. Thanks also to the Sydney Craft & Quilt Fair for having us.
