Why this class

Hyperrealism is the difference between a cake people taste and one they can't believe.

The illusion is all in the technique: how you colour, texture, detail and plate. This class hands you a clear system for three showstopper projects, then coaches you live on your own cakes every week.

A system, not guesswork

Realistic colouring, texture building, finishing details and presentation, taught step by step across three projects, with the fixes for when it goes wrong.

Live, so you don't get stuck

Each week you work, then bring it to a live Q&A with Amber and Emma. Real coaching on your real cakes, not just a video you watch alone.

A portfolio piece by the end

You finish with the steak hero project plated and shot for camera, plus a set of illusion techniques you can repeat on any cake.

The three projects

Three illusions, one at a time.

A new project releases in the Cake! app each week. You get a full week to work through it, then join the teacher live for a Q&A and feedback. Every session is recorded and yours to revisit any time.

Fine detailing on a hyperrealistic oyster cake 01

Hyperrealistic Oysters

Look like oysters. Taste like chocolate.

Freshly shucked oysters recreated in cake, chocolate and sugar! It's the small details that blur the line between cake and reality.

  • Cast white chocolate shells (no tempering needed!)
  • Hand-paint your oyster shells and build realism through colour layering
  • Create the glossy oyster juices and translucent details
  • Organic oyster flesh (with the help of a 'secret weapon', as Amber likes to say)
Hand-detailing a hyperrealistic fried egg made of cake on a baking mat 02

Eggs & Beans on Toast

Cake for breakfast.

A classic café breakfast recreated in cake and sugar, complete with glossy finishes and realistic food textures.

  • Realistic sunny-side-up egg, complete with a glossy yolk
  • Glossy baked beans with realistic texture and saucy shine
  • Discover the surprisingly simple technique behind realistic toast
  • Melted butter and finishing details
Hand-painting char colour onto a sponge cake shaped like a T-bone steak 03

Is It Steak, or Cake?

Char marks, medium-rare, all sponge.

Realistic char marks, a pink medium-rare centre with the right colour transition, and a crispy fat edge. Plate it like a steakhouse and shoot it for your portfolio. The last live Q&A is all about plating and shooting for camera.

  • Create realistic steak texture and surface detail
  • Hand-paint your steak, building depth with colour and shading
  • Create juicy finishes and melting garlic butter
  • Food styling and presentation techniques that sell the illusion
